As told by Cornerstone Member, Minton Williams
On Thursday, March 11, I was asked to go to the JC Med Center to pray for an acquaintance of a member of our congregation who was in ICU. We were told Michael was not in good shape and the family had been urged to take him off all life support. He was on a respirator, dialysis, IVs and (I believe) feeding tubes.
Logan Nester and I went into ICU where we encountered a nurse who really did not want us to disturb Michael saying he was ‘not doing good and please don’t excite him.’ We went in to the room, told him why we were there and prayed quietly. During the prayer he grabbed my hand and held on until we left.
Later, I sensed the Lord telling me that I needed to go back, that he was not saved and the grip on my hand was fear. On Friday morning I headed back and went into the room. He immediately grabbed my hand once again and I told him I was there to tell him that Jesus loved him. Tears began to flow down his face and after head nods and hand squeezes (he could not talk due to tubes), he confirmed that he was not saved. After leading him in a prayer of salvation where he affirmed via more hand squeezes, I then prayed for his now legal right to health.
Friday night, I learned during a telephone conversation with the member of our congregation that on that afternoon, his kidneys began to work, he began to breathe on his own and by the end of the afternoon, he had both respirator and dialysis machines disconnected and was sitting up in bed talking coherently. Praise God!!
Saturday night I got a call asking me if I would go see him again Sunday because he wanted to talk with me. As I entered the ICU, his nurse said he was a miracle patient and was doing well. Michael immediately started crying while his fiancée continually wiped tears flowing down his face. He told me what he saw/experienced while laying there:
Two tunnels, the first one was very dark and at the entrance was a shadowy figure with a smile, not a good smile, urging him to come on. The second tunnel-like entrance was covered ‘in a fog like cloud’ but he could see light down this tunnel. A figure at the entrance stood pointing his finger at him telling Michael he must go back.
He understood what he had seen and asked “Why would Jesus do this for me?” Easy answer: “Because of His great love for you!!”
Doctors confirmed a heart attack and stroke, telling him he was partially paralyzed on his left side, primarily his leg, but also that he had experienced a miracle as he should have died. A week later, he is in a private room, takes steps with a walker (for the first time in over a month), and with a smile on his face says ‘I am not going to waste this chance that Jesus has given me!!’ Glory be to God!!
