Psalm 23, session 3

Cant you just picture it? A small band of people dressed in black, carrying umbrellas as it is a dark day with the rain pouring down. They are making their way to the graveside of their loved one. As they gather by the coffin atop the open grave, the minister leads the small congregation in a familiar chant. In somber tones, expressing grief and even despair, they begin to quote, The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want

Maybe I saw it in a movie, or maybe its just the picture my mind manufactured after hearing this passage of scripture read at nearly every funeral I have ever attended.

What a great example of how religious tradition robs us of the power of Gods promises, as this passage is filled with enough promise to carry you victoriously through this life and on into eternity! Remove your religious spectacles and read these verses one at a time and, maybe for the first time, receive the Lord Jesus as your Good Shepherd. Discover the Shepherd who leads you to the right place at the right time, all the while providing more than you will ever need!
