Dr. Barry Burns has been in full time ministry for over 33 years, the entirety of which has been dedicated to one purpose: to transform the lives of men, women and children through the power of the Word of God. He is most noted for his strength as pastor, teacher and preacher of the Word of God. He is an example of a true New Testament Pastor as his tireless commitment to the Body of Christ demonstrates. His influence spans several generations. From grandparents needing a pastoral word to the child needing a pastoral touch, Pastor Barry is ever ministering to the needs of others. From rich spiritual insights to invaluable practical application, he is highly skilled in communicating the Gospel. For over three decades, he has labored to equip the Body at Cornerstone Church for victorious Christian living. His teaching is the hallmark from which Cornerstone Church has become known. He is an example to all in the practice of honor, integrity and faith.
Under his leadership, along with his wife, Ann, Cornerstone Church of Johnson City, Tennessee has been making its mark in the world and continues to flourish as a remarkable testimony to the faithfulness of God to His Word. Cornerstone’s ministry crosses generational barriers and has earned the distinction of genuinely serving people of all ages and from all walks of life.
Dr. Burns received his Bachelor of Science degree from East Tennessee State University in 1972. He earned a Master’s degree in Ministry in 1986 and a Doctor of Ministry Degree in 1989, both from Bethany Theological Seminary. Dr. Burns has been married to Ann Hutchinson Burns for 39 years. Their growing family consists of: Jonathan, his wife, Melissa, and daughter, Maggie (with one on the way!); Andrew, his wife Jamie, and daughter, Annalise; Julianna, her husband, Shane Evans, and their sons, Hutchinson and Oliver.
